'You're Welcome'establishing youth-friendly health and care services
The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) has published guidance for the development of health and care services for adolescents. This builds on work for the World Health Organization.
Four benefits are identified from investing in young people's health:
- improving access to services for young people
- improving health and wellbeing, and supporting behaviour change
- reducing health inequalities
- reducing financial costs for the future
There are eight standards underpinned by 'essential' and 'additional' criteria:
Standard 1: involving young people in their care and in the design, delivery and review of services
Standard 2: explaining confidentiality and consent
Standard 3: making young people welcome
Standard 4: providing high-quality health, wellbeing and care services
Standard 5: developing digital approaches
Standard 6: staff skills and training
Standard 7: linking with other services
Standard 8: supporting young people’s changing needs
