End of Government funded medicine deliveries via community pharmacies
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government funded a delivery service through local community pharmacies to deliver medicines to people who were shielding and did not have anyone who could collect their medicines for them.
With lockdown easing and people now able to go outside more, the Government’s package of support for shielding patients is ending on 31 July, including the delivery of medicines.
While some pharmacies may fund a delivery service themselves, this may have restrictions on which patients can use the service. Your local pharmacy will be able to tell you of any restrictions.
Support is still available if you need help collecting your medicines. We recommend:
-
Asking a family member, friend or neighbour who can help
-
Calling NHS Volunteer Responders on 0808 196 3646 (8am to 8pm) for support
-
Contacting your local pharmacy or council to find a local volunteer
